The Miami-South Florida Job Symposium is presented by Florida-based employment website JobsDirectUSA.com. Guests will be treated to an exclusive catered luncheon by Kung Fu Kitchen & Sushi where they will privately dine with members of South Florida’s local business & HR leadership communities followed by a high profile panel discussion featuring: Jason Kobrin (Managing Director, Manpower Professional ), Violet Nikolici Lowrey (President, A Plus Professional Resumes Inc.), Jimmy Tam (Sr. Corporate Recruiter, Ryder), Jorge Diaz (Managing Editor, CareerJockey.org) and Edwin Duterte (Founder, PinkSlipMixers.com and Social Media Expert) PLUS an exclusive networking session and workshop. This is your opportunity to learn directly from local HR and Staffing Leaders on how to stand out and find a job in today’s competitive job market, tips on interview skills, resume preparation, personal branding and perfecting the job search.

At 5 PM PinkSlipMixers.com will host a Pink Slip Mixer inside Maxine's Bistro & Bar. The Pink Slip Mixer is a job networking event that is putting a new spin on the job search by bringing together Job Seekers with Recruiters in a relaxed and casual environment. The Pink Slip Mixer is free and open to the general public, the event is an opportunity for Job Seekers to meet local HR Recruiters from all industries in person. PinkSlipMixers.com Founder and Social Media Expert Edwin Duterte will be in attendance showing Job Seekers how to find a job via social networking and Twitter; you don’t want to miss it!

For both events Job Seekers are encouraged to dress to impress, bring copies of their resume and be ready to network. All hiring companies in the Greater Miami-Dade County Area are encouraged to attend. This is not your typical job fair; in fact it's far from it.

Event organizers Carlos Gil (JobsDirectUSA.com) and Edwin Duterte (PinkSlipMixers.com) know all too well about this recession's impact on ordinary Americans.

Gil and Duterte are both former Bankers who lost their jobs in 2008 after the economy went south. Inspired by President Obama's call for volunteerism and will to pay it forward for millions of unemployed workers nationwide, Gil and Duterte have hosted almost 100 job networking events (called "Pink Slip Mixers" or "Pink Slip Parties") combined throughout Florida, California and Nevada which have received national and local media recognition by CNN, NBC, CBS, FOX, ABC News, The Los Angeles Times and The Miami Herald.

Over the last year alone Gil and Duterte’s events have helped over 1,000 workers land interviews and jobs. Gil and Duterte’s events have been the subject of an online job movement which uses on-line networking websites such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook plus their own networking events to connect Job Seekers with Direct Employers and Recruiters.

Gil and Duterte have their eyes set on hosting 40 events nationally throughout the United States in 2010.
